Haverhill U13s 7s Tournament
Having been let down by Royston at very short notice the Coaches decided that a 7s tournament was they way forward given that so many family and friends were there to cheer on the lads. After some careful selection 3 Teams were chosen whio on paper should have been evenly matched, these were:-
Roger‘s Rapiers - Dom, Francis, Nathan, Ryan, Elliot, Nail, Gareth
Mark’s Magicians - George, John, Oli, Tom, Callum, Jacob, Matthew, Bradley
Tim’s Tornados - Harry, Josh, Dylan, Ben, Dan, Toby, Henry, Brenton
The format was a round robin with the top 2 sides competing in a final with the other Team making up the subs for both sides, believe me they needed it by the time they got there. Charles refereed all matches and was impressed by the quality of the Rugby played and the commitment shown by everyone. The group stages produced the following results, all of which were very much far from settled until the last couple of minutes :-
Rapiers 17, Magicians 14
Rapiers 7, Tornados 12
Tornados 14, Magicians 14
The Final League table looked as so:-
Team P W L D F A Pts Diff
Tornados 2 1 0 1 26 21 4 +5
Rapiers 2 1 1 0 24 26 3 -2
Magicians 2 0 1 1 28 31 1 -3
In the Final (over 10 minutes each way!!), the Tornados triumphed narrowly by 14 points to 12 with a last minute try and skilful conversion. Whilst receiving his trophy Captain Josh Firman said he was pleased with the overall effort that his side and shown and felt that, in the end, it was the right result.
Man of the match was Callum who seemed to be everywhere on the park all morning.
As normal our thanks go to all the parents and helpers on the day who’s support is massively appreciated. |

Well, on some of the websites I help post on, this is a heinous crime known as double posting.
Heinous crimes are punishable in a tour court.
Roll on Barcelona 2008.
