Message to all players
Its been a long time since i last played, and oh yes how i miss it .i wish i was 10 years younger and pushing for a place in the 1sts. I've been encouraged to see the the turnaround of fortunes for both sides this season, but still there seems to be some self doubters hiding amoungst our number, this i think makes all the difference when games are close and winable .
The club in general has fullfilled its promise to provide for the coaching & playing staff .I would however like to point out that a little bit of self help will go a long way.
READ ON : Rugby is and always will be the ultimate team game . But as individual players you need to help yourself to victory and success, that takes a lot of self belief and belief in your team mates and team. There is NO TIME FOR BICKERING WITH EACH OTHER
NO TIME TO QUESTION SELECTION just time to prepare for the game ahead.
PREPERATION
Give your self time before you even get to the club to be in the right frame of mind (play music , find a quiet place , have a good turnout , )what ever works for you.
ON the day you may have your mind set for the game and team, but changes can happen , if they do take them in your stride and be positive.
Think about what you and your team mates can and will achieve.
Put aside any personality clashes for the duration. (a few hrs thats all).
In the changing room pull your kit on with pride and look around you(from the water boy to the coach, you are a team)
Tell your self that you will be player of the match and achieve it (and tell anyone else whos Interested)
promise youself you WILL NOT MISS A TACKLE
YOU WILL RUCK AND MAUL HARD
TAKE YOUR CHANCES AND DONT BE GREEDY
BUT ABOVE ALL PLAY FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR
TEAM
THE ABOVE PREP IS WORTH 10 POINTS IN ANY GAME IT's ALL IN THE MIND

Now I remember that 15 year old boy at the club all meek and in awe who turned into a great player who could lead from the front, back, side and stretcher and inspire the team to win. Seen it many times since, on tour and in the bar as well.
Great stuff Marps, reading this from a poxy office too many miles away made me proud to be part of a great club that will suceed on Saturday and I am so pleased that I can be there to be part of that (and report on it too).
Go for it boys, let's show them the Haverhill club spirit, on and off the pitch during and after the game.
