To all in the know, Fred went in to hospital last night, Sunday 14th january for the operation on his back.
He goes under the knife at 14:00 today, Monday the 15th.
I spoke to him this morning on his direct dial number which is 070410179499. It takes about 90 seconds before you are connected by metal mickey, the computer.
He is having part of his spine removed, confirming now something that we have always known about Fred.
For those of you who are in the area, he is on ward A4.
The doctors have said there will be a lot of pain after his operation but he will be able to relieve this with a morphine pump
If we can all think of the old bugger this afternoon and over the next few days, it will make his time away from us seem shorter, which is a pity really.

Spoke to Fred this morning.
He is in good spirits and comfortable.
He thanks all those who have called and popped in.
He has not seen the surgeon yet, but he hopes he will be home Wednesday evening / Thursday morning.

Sorry Flanners, I should have kept you all appraised.
However, as this was the Thursday of the storm when he got out and I was travelling across Essex and Suffolk to get back from town, I kinda forgot.
Fred was the ugly one with the camera up at the ground on Saturday.
