Gents just to let you know,
I have cancelled the HOME MATCH against Thurston due to lack of numbers, response or people at all bothered. That is now the 3rd match cancelled.
Question :- what shall we do.
My Answer :- Have a players meeting to decide whats happening, but thought better than that the same old few turn up to give there support and come up with ideas while the majority sit on the side and grumble into there beers when everything goes wrong and we cant get a side out. You dont realise how embarrising it is to make a phone call on a Friday night to cancel after spending the early part of the week talking to the opposition organising a ref touching base with the 2nd xv captain making sure the kit the pitch and evrything thing else is done to have to cancel at the eleventh hour.
Any ideas would be appreciated, I am on nights this week-end but will be at the club on Tuesday for any ideas, thoughts as to how we field 2 sides. So if you have the time to pop up and give me your feelings please feel free.

I was very sad to turn up to the club today to go over to support the firsts at Harwich and see a car park empty, which said to me "game off". I find out tonight that two players turned up today for their game, but had not had a text to tell them it was off. This was due to the fact that they had not said they were available.
We have some players who are not turning up as "they played for the firsts last year and are not picked now"
Well no s h i t Sherlock. Don't turn up to any training then don't expect to be in the seconds, let alone the firsts.
It is about connection to the club Tony. For some reason we have "players" who seem to be disconnected for what the club is about.
We only get 30 weekends to play rugby at home, and when we are at home, people can not be arsed to even reply to tell if they are available.
This loses the club a lot of revenue, something that we can not afford.
They know who they are. Step up or really they should step off. At least we would know that we can only put one team out, and just concentrate on this.

Tony.
Any news on why the 2s are not interested in tunring out on a match day
considering how well they seam to be doing?

to answer your question tazz,is that the numbers aren't great and sadly enough we rely on the older experinced players that would like to ave a game here and there!were need to hammer into the lads heads its not all bout the 1st team and that the 2's can acheive something and it shows it with the 2 wins with had!
harwich 2's who we beat at home are top of the league, they've lost 1 game, and that was against us,it shows we are capable of going somewhere!we just need to nag the right people to play and intise new people!

Its a tuff one this cause i feel sorry for you tony having to pre book a ref, mark out the pitch, food, kit etc......Then cancel it all on a friday or thursday....id be embarassed!!! Maybe if it continues then sadly just put a stop to it......i express strongly sadly!!!! we do hope on a saturday for the 2s the older few step up to play and they just cant do it every week like some of us, most of them have familys and work commitments, which of course come top of list for prioritys on a weekend, rather then gettin a game of rugby in and aching all week at work, to just recover in time for next week to get a text asking if they fancy playing away to brightlingsea.
Maybe we've hit a age barrier where all youths are to young and are expercienced little bit older than middle age players (trying to avoid the word old) cant do it every week which is very sad cause we all know you all have still got it. specially the crown jewels him self the chief daddy, andy carr, murphy, mark m, chatton, lee edwards, kes, power and the list grows but all these have familys all these work hard...maybe if we take it away will they hound us for a game of rugby where we re-instate the 2s or will no one ever miss them being gone. Untill its taken away we will never know how much its missed/ needed. i know its a big income for the club a home game/away game but the income for the players who are working saturdays is important to..it is a tuff one
take a toy away from a child will it scream???????????
take the 2's away from the club will the players scream?????

In my considered opinion, it is fundemental that we have a second team. The ultimate aim is that we have seconds home one week and firsts at home the next. This keeps our club busy.
We have a great facility, and if it is going to be used every other weekend for 30 weeks of the year as we only have one team, then guess what guys, there will be no club.
I agree with you Jake that it is difficult for some to turn out. It is just the ones who will not turn out, as they have thrown their teddies out of the pram, or been told the facts - which they don't like.
However, when a team is prepared to lend 6 players, and still we can not turn out a second team, this is pretty poor.
Hope we see lots more tomorrow.

i dont think there is that many that have thrown toys the club just aint got that many players on the books that will play week in week out its not there fault if they choose family or work over rugby you cant blame anyone for that.from what i can gather there was only 30 or so at trainin in the summer this is a good indication that your not always gonna have enough for two teams everyweek.its been like that for the last thew seasons we shouldnt be surprised and we shouldnt take the twos away for the simple reason that there is a handfull that play seconds and pay there players membership which we cant afford to lose and if the seconds aint there where do the young players comin through go to get experiance and will they come back.
